Can any of you clever campers find me a nice tent for my dds...? We would like...

A tent with a living area in the middle and 2 sleeping pod compartments off it, which are big enough to sleep a dd plus a friend each. Ie. Two X double sleeping areas off the main area.

If possible it would be easy to put up and look a bit funky too.

budget please

MABS · 19/08/2008 19:44

you need to speak to mehgalegs pesto.

Slubberdegullion · 19/08/2008 19:48

you want a lay out like this?

PestoMonster · 19/08/2008 20:30

I think so Slubber. Thing is, we only really want it for camping out in the garden and our garden isn't hugely huge.

Might have to compromise with a different layout, methinks.

Any more for any more?

This is another option for a layout with them all in one bedroom together.

Slubberdegullion · 19/08/2008 20:40

small footprint, doddle to pitch and looks funky.

We have the 2 man as a play tent in the garden. The dds love it. It doesn't have a sewn in groundsheet, not sure if this is important to your dds or not.

PestoMonster · 19/08/2008 20:41

Thank you Slubberdegullion. At the moment the dds are so enjoying camping out in our ancient 2 man ridge tent, but it would be useful to have a larger one so they could each have a friend to sleepover too, you see.

All suggestions welcome.

Thank you

ahhhh well if your dds are into classic ridge tents then how about supersizing?

Do tell me to bog off. Tent porn is my weakness.

Slubberdegullion · 19/08/2008 20:49

super bobby bargain Would sleep 4 if you took the inner out and just had one groundsheet down.

[Cabanon freak]

PestoMonster · 19/08/2008 20:49

I won't tell you to b*gger off coz I luurrrrve looking at tent porn too. BTW that tent looks like something I camped in with the Girl Guides many many moons ago

Not mad on the Cabanon. Liking the newer style sort of pod/bubble shape tents best.

OP posts:
Slubberdegullion · 19/08/2008 20:56

you don't like the Cabanon

You fancy something modern eh.....

Have a butcher at the Quechua pop up tents. Martianbishop will do a great sales pitch for you.

Blandmum · 19/08/2008 21:04

cabanons are luch and always look smooth and unwrinkled!!!

If goungfor a pop up you' d need 2 2 man sleeping pods (2 seconds) and a base seconds plus in the middle, whichwould cost about £200

and the sleeping pods are not fully sealed in, which suits me, but might no suit PM's dd

But deffo easy up and funky looking

This is a popular tent and would sleep 4 no problem although all in 1 room. Do the dds and their friends need their own rooms?

PestoMonster · 19/08/2008 21:09

MB, what's luch?

OP posts:
Blandmum · 19/08/2008 21:09

a typo for Lush!

Slubberdegullion · 19/08/2008 21:11

multi pod and super quick to erect

spenith though.

I wonder could I charge for this service? Online personal tent porn and kit advisor.

PestoMonster · 19/08/2008 21:11

Ooh that Vango looks nice. Well, they don't need separate rooms, but I think they would prefer it. This is because dd1 and her friends see themselves as a completely different entity to dd2 and her friend/s.

I think it's a girl thing.

I wondrered if you meant lurch from frankenstein. Sort of hunched and ancient and hideous.

PestoMonster · 19/08/2008 21:13

LOL Martianbishop!

This is a goodun. Nice and compact but vis a vis design.

Sold out on this site but you could google for it elsewhere.

PestoMonster · 19/08/2008 21:19

I likee that last one very much. Thanks Slubber, you are very helpful.

No worries mate. Lying in bed last night, trying to get to sleep (yes I think of tents to help me drop off, much quieter and prettier than sheep), I remembered Halfords.

4 man starter pack. Now these tents are not designed for any sort of hardy conditions, but in a garden for 1 or 2 nighters they would be fine. £100 for tent, airbeds, sleeping bags and torches is a really good deal. hth
