The vendee is an excellent region to holiday with kids. Lots of beautiful flat beachers that are kept so clean. The campsites are often in pine forsets that were planted to help to stabilise the sand dunes. Lots to do, but very much a French destination, so yuo have to make the effort and use your French....which I enjoy. We have gone there the last two years (in a caravan) and hve had wonderful holidays....and we have spent a fortune on the mark Warner style holidays in the past and not had such a relaxing and enjoyable time. Oh and French campsites often have free kids clubs (mine didn't use them just spent all their time in the park as part of a 'tribe' of kids, they had the time of their lives), and they will also rent bikes.
