Please come and tell me about The Friendly Club

So we have the first two weeks off in August designated for camping.

I have 3 nights booked at a campsite in suffolk and then we have bravely/foolishley decided to play it by ear and go camp where the mood takes us. I have a sort of plan of heading north, maybe a few nights in Linconshire and then up to Yorkshire and then across back to Cheshire.

Anyway I have not booked anything.

Dh and I have pretty much decided that the big camsites (pools/bars/water gymnastic sessions/red squirrel petting etc) are not for us. We would like a field with a view, a loo, maybe a shower and possibly a swing.

Should we join the friendly club?

How does it work with booking the small sites?

Is it worth it? We will be camping again in sept & october (bastard british weather permitting).

I don't know anything about the Friendly Club.
But I'm with you on the kind of campsites you like - we went here last year and, although predominantly caravans, the camping bit was away from them, nice play area and clean showers/loos. Ripley is also an incredibly pretty village.

We camping here this weekend and then have another weekend in Dorset planned later, but not booked yet.

Whereabouts in Cheshire are you - I'm in Sale, postally Cheshire, but really Manchester as everyone knows!

Slubberdegullion · 17/07/2008 15:31

I'm near Chester.

We have done several big sites now and dh is getting twitchy about going back to the basics. I know the C&c club have these certified? sites which are very much a field and a standpipe.

We'r in The Club

the vast majority of sites are great but it is, ime, a damned sight more friendly to caravans than tents! Lots of events are welcome all.... but only if you have your own sanitation.

Heartily recommen Mendip Heights, basic but lovely site and owners (handy family bathroom too) and the one in Cardigan Bay

PeachyBAHons · 17/07/2008 21:02

all after me

'skc sparky's cew club'

ah the memories!

DH and Narky have never been seen together.... coincidence? I think not!

ChippyMinton · 17/07/2008 21:19

Slubbers you would love it

Welcome to the Krew Club! The west london posse are having a summer meet up at camber sands. Slubbers, get ye along to MrsRecycle's mobile.

Lucycat · 17/07/2008 22:19

hello springfieldmum to the Cheshire posse!

SpringfieldMum · 18/07/2008 09:49

Waves at lucycat!
Hello - you're only round the corner! And near the Mecca that is Decathalon!

Slubberdegullion · 18/07/2008 14:14

um Chippy. Sadly, I don't live in west london and therefore, on a technicality, will be unable to attend your meet up with the dancing singing Sparky.

I think I'm going to join the friendly club. Do I get a car sticker pennant?

i not going - I just lurk on the local threads and wave to people occasionally

Slubberdegullion · 18/07/2008 16:30

Chippy, as you are here, I have a confession to make...

I...

I think I might be going to the Manchester Christmas meet up

ChippyMinton · 18/07/2008 16:35

Am I staying at yours then?

Slubberdegullion · 18/07/2008 16:38

OH YES

Although I am over an hour away from Manchester so I thought I might treat myself (as DH just spent the whole w/e in Germany, leaving me to decorate dd2's bedroom on my lonesome) to a hotel room.

But we could share.

Twin room obviously

Calm down dear it's only a night out!
When is it? Will we have to get WAG-esque spray tains and fake nails? How will I explain it to DH?

ChippyMinton · 18/07/2008 16:54
