Best quality brands and essentials for kitting out a campervan

We need to buy everything to kit out our campervan. What are the best brands/ items? We want to buy high quality stuff that will last rather than going to a camping shop and just buying what’s there.

Recommendations would be much appreciated.

I think you might benefit from going to one of the Caravan and Motorhome Shows, unless you want to get everything now? The shows often have all of the accessories but with discounts.

If you don’t want to wait, what kind of things do you have on your list so far? Maybe we can advise you Smile

I'd join a few FB groups and ask on there. That was the most helpful thing I did.

We have absolutely nothing so we need everything. We have the installed things like bed, fridge etc but we don’t have cutlery, cups, chairs. What would you spend money on versus get cheap?

I want really good quality chairs. It’s a bit of a minefield!

I think with chairs you really do need to go somewhere that they’re in display and sit in them. We saw 2 really lovely ones last week at a camping shop, sat down and I can honestly saw they were the most uncomfortable camping chairs I’ve ever come across.

I think with the cutlery I would choose a set that you’re going to enjoy using.

I was going to pop down to Go Outdoors. Does anyone know if they have decent stuff there?

You need to think where you’re going to store everything. So that stuff fits well in the drawers and cupboards. Personally I wouldn’t pay a fortune until I’d used the van a bit. If in doubt don’t buy it. You probably have no idea how many clothes and shoes you’ll want to take and exactly where they’ll go.

Good quality pillows and bedding, a pop up laundry basket, a fully equipped picnic basket, a good quality fold up table, chairs that double up as recliners for those lazy days on the campsite, a windscreen protector, commode inserts if you are planning to use the chemical toilet (biodegradable and
much less fuss than emptying it 🤢).

Procook have a sale on their outdoor things at the moment OP including 50% off their melamine dishes. They’re a lot nicer than they look in the photos Smile
