Thermarest mats are brilliant. They look sooooo thin but are really comfortable and warm. I never wake up in the night feeling cold or achey. You could use them for a longer trip. expensive though.

We have thermarest base camps. They are excellent. Really warm and you can lie on your side no problem with no digging in of hips into the ground.

Vomit also easily wiped off them (not sure that is of interest to you as your DC have probably gone passed the "oh I feel a tiny bit unwell......bleurgh stage")

We used thermarests for an 8 week camping trip in australia and loved them.

If I could go back in time I would push the boat out even further and buy the slightly wider ones [big wide arse]. The dc are fine on the regular width ones.

have fat arse. The fat aerics are 7.5 cm and I thought that this would do even for my huge bulk. We have camp beds, which are good, but take up lots of space and are a bit of a faff

am also exploring a sleeps 4 pop up tent for weekend use

I only have a regular. But there is a distict lack of area for arms splaying out, and unless you are dead centre there is the unbecoming arse overhang.

ooh are you going to get a Kuecha Pop Up?

Blandmum · 27/06/2008 20:20

gelert do a 3000 hh sleep 4

was looking at that

Have you a piccie?

I haven't looked at any pictures of tents for a long time. I wouldn't mind having a perv butchers.

here

But VVVVV interested in the one you mentioned and the fact that you can put two together!

oh thats very funky.

I think lucycat has 2 kuechas. Someone else has one...hmmm is it Twiglett?

Yes I like the way you can stick them together, just like the ELC fun cubes thingmies.

You could get loads and make a sort of hamster space cage arrangement all over your pitch. Every trip you could have a different configuration.

oooh ooh I have a thermarest (legacy of Previous Boyfriend Who Liked Camping ).

It's rather good. (I think mine is the 3/4 Shortarse length.)

OhYouBadBadKitten · 28/06/2008 13:06

Just bought a reg airic. Only tried it in the living room.
It seems fine for me - am rather boney at the moment and when I lie on my side I can't feel the floor with my hip bone. I think my shoulder might get a bit uncomfy though - not sure.

DH got one, cant remember the make, its in the loft. it was tres expensive, but worth it, well would have been if we had not had a baby soon after, and not gone camping since!

It is very comfortable, does retain its shape when unrolled, just needs a little puff of air to boost it. And it is light to carry.
