I am currently based in the middle of Belgium, and have now got a car. My tent came with me but for lots of reasons, has languished in my storage space unused for 2 seasons.
I have some capacity this year (limited to weekends) but also hope to have more time next year up to mid-August to do some camping trips. I would likely be solo.
I don’t need ehu. I DO need a proper toilet/shower block. I would like if I can have bbq/mini firepit but it’s not a dealbreaker (I have a 1 ring gas stove too). I prefer forest and quiet to “family friendly, and full of caravans concrete jungle” types of sites - am happy to be quite off-grid once there are toilet facilities.
As for locality, if there’s nice walking or swimming/boating nearby, that would be nice. I’m happy to eat out but also to cook for myself. And I can bring all I need but love exploring local markets (and crafts shops). Or finding musical events (I’ve been to some great events in local halls and churches over the years on hols or where I am now). I can manage reasonably well in French, my Flemish/Dutch is very limited.
Does anyone have recommendations?
(Sorry for the fussiness - none is vital just giving a sense of the type of break I’m looking for as I manage a lot of stress with work and life just now, and need some glimmer of hope, and ideas for my downtime next spring before I go back home-home next summer).
