A small fib, we are about to upgrade the tent having done tons of research once dh gets paid on Thursday we'll order a wolf lake 7.

So, we have inexpensive airbeds, which one by one have been deflating and dh says he's not prepared to go camping with me again without a new one. Aparently I'm a 'little' grumpy after a bad nights sleep . So, camping folk, what would you say was the creme de la creme of beds? camp bed, double height airbed? something else?

Also we've always used a bog standard cool box with ice packs, but have decided to get ehu and are wondering if we should upgrade to something more practical. The fridges look small to me and we've also seen some large coolboxes that say they last for 5 days - can't quite remember. What do you think?

no idea about cool boxes but i thoroughly love a self inflating mattress. if you're feeling flush go for a fat aric - if not then i find a cheepy one fine and the DDs have eurohike ones that are lovely.
Dh thinks they're shite though but he's only ever been camping once so what does he know?!

go for a coleman comfort airbed

it has a double chamber so that when one of you moves the other doesnt have to

i saw a really cool camping light in aldi yesturday with a remote control for about a tenner!

Lucycat · 22/06/2008 20:55

oh gawd the possibilities are limitless if your budget is too

second the Coleman airbed though. We got a new big coolbox from Lidl but there are some good 3 way fridges if you check out a site like Towsure.

dustystar · 23/06/2008 17:05

Another vote for the coleman comfort airbed

Lucycat · 23/06/2008 17:08

I did see a coobox with plud attched (big bonus pint there) in Aldi today along with some of my airers - the box was £29 I think and looked a decent size ad as for my airer - well it's great - I didn't take a phot this time, but great for chucking towels over.

great choice of tent btw Welcome to the Lakey owners club!

Lucycat · 23/06/2008 17:13

Just looked at my typos there! 'plud' - no I don't have adenoids and a 'bonus pint' well that's just Freudian!

dustystar · 23/06/2008 17:14

I've yet to put mine up. Dh and I are going to have a go tomorrow

Lucycat · 23/06/2008 17:17

We need photos dusty

just smell the polycotton and have a play witht he 'real fabric' curtains

Astrophe · 23/06/2008 17:20

The self inflating air beds at alpkit.com are fab, and a good price too. If you buy 2 you get a discount. The guys ar Alpkit are lovely too - they drove 30 mins to hand deliver my order during mail strike.

dustystar · 23/06/2008 17:21

I'm so sad I've opened the box just so that I can drool over the lurvely polycotton lol Its bloody huge and heavy though!!!

Ecmo · 23/06/2008 17:21

we upgraded too.
from this to this

Lucycat · 23/06/2008 17:25

oh your frame tent was gorgeous You haven't sold her have you?

(can't you tell I'm not a shed dragging fan in fact I've just been bemoaning the ole 'pitch sizes' question with slubber on another thread!)

Lucycat · 23/06/2008 17:27

dustystar we leave the bedrrom compartments out of ours and the groundsheets also go in their own plastic bag - just about makes it manageable!

Groundsheets go in one of these from IKEA of course being zigs you can take them out and wash them!

dustystar · 23/06/2008 17:28

Thanks for the tips lucycat

Ecmo · 23/06/2008 17:31

no still got the frame tent
hubby keeps trying to persuade me to sell it but I loved it. It did stand up throughout the gale force winds but I was put off camping after that!

Lucycat · 23/06/2008 17:32

You can always just sniff the tent bag occasionally Ecmo

Slubberdegullion · 23/06/2008 17:33

Ecmo you upgraded from the Cabanon Espace 8....to a CARAVAN

The only place from that living beauteouteousness of a canvas delight is the Biscaya.

Lucycat · 23/06/2008 17:38

slubber - you have a giant picture of a Cananon on your wall? your bedroom wall?

or was it the one on Ecmo's post?

Ecmo · 23/06/2008 17:45

everytime I go camping the weather turns to gales. Believe me I camped for years but holding a huge tent up all night in gale force winds was just awful, especially hearing everyone elses screams as their tents blew away!

I do apologise for complete thread hijack!

Slubberdegullion · 23/06/2008 17:47

Ecmo, but your tents stood up. That is a sign. Please don't get rid of it. She is beautiful.

LucyCat I have a giant poster of this on my bedroom ceiling

Lucycat · 23/06/2008 17:48

Ecmo where are you going this summer so we can all avoid it? [grin[

lol slubber

dustystar · 23/06/2008 17:48

My friend has that tent slubber

Slubberdegullion · 23/06/2008 17:51

dusty... have you entered the sancuary that the biscaya undoubtedly is? Was it sublimely lush? Did it have the smell

dustystar · 23/06/2008 17:53

Oh God yes it was a truly beautiful thing and i swooned. It did smell good now that you mention it

Slubberdegullion · 23/06/2008 17:59

I raced back to Caseys camping in april when the put their new stock up to go and stand inside a Biscaya (I had more than one tent-pleasure fix last year) only to be told

"oh people don't want to buy canvas tents anymore"

So obviously I had to knee him in the groin and pin him to the ground with the pointy end of an awning pole through his nostrils and tell him in no uncertain terms that "OH YES THEY BLOODY DO".
