Hillcroft Park - Pooley Bridge

Anyone have experience camping here with kids? Reviews seem pretty good!

Any recommendations for fun things to do for 5 year olds within maybe 40 min drive would be appreciated ☺️

I don’t know that site but you can get the Ullswater Steamer from Pooley Bridge for a lovely trip up and down the lake. Stop off at Howtown for a picnic and a paddle and get back on a later steamer .

Aira Force waterfalls - National Trus

Hire a rowing boat from St Patrick’s Landing at the Southern end of Ullswater.

A game 5 yo can manage the walk up to Lanty’s Tarn and Keldas View from Glenridding (walk info leaflet from the Info centre in the Car park)

Over to Keswick Direction:
The Derwent Water Launch. Again, the option to get off at one of the jetties and walk through the lovely woods to the next jetty.

The Bowder Stone: a short walk to a huge boulder that appears to be balanced on one corner

The Pencil Museum Keswick

Activities at the Rheged Centre if beset by rain

We have a static here rather than camping and have a two year old. The site is lovely but the tent field is quiet sloping! The play park is supposed to be reopening at the end of the month 🤞.

@bk1981 thank you! I did see about a very sloped area on one review but I assumed it was just the one pitch they had got as nobody else seemed to mention it 😅 is it all sloped?

Our other option was Park Foot but all the EHU pitches seem to “all weather” gravel pitches rather than grass which DH says he doesn’t want 🫠

Yes the whole area is fairly sloping, not major but not ideal. It's a lovely site though and the shower block is amazing!

We’ve just booked here, the hard standing pitches don’t look sloping? I read a few reviews and couldn’t see anything about it so have taken the risk. We considered Park Foot but too many reviews about the noise put us off.

@usernotfound0000 i know others who rave about Park Foot and go every year and have a lovely time! Not sure about hard standing pitches. DH specifically wanted grass with EHU so we went for Hillcroft ☺️ hopefully it’s nice!

No the hard standing pitches all look level, it's just the grass area that slopes.
