Downsizing for festival tent!

Totallybannanas · 01/01/2026 19:33

We have a couple weekend trips booked, one being a wedding and also a festival. It's just me and dh so I need something that will keep us dry and warm and not too crowded. Also I've downsized my car and have a small boot. Can anyone recommend a tent?

These are good tents Eurohike Cairns 4 Deluxe Nightfallâ„¢ Tent | Millets

If you want something you can stand up in Eurohike Rydal 500 5 Person Tent

Fine for weekend camping.

Or look at the Decathlon pop-ups.

Whatever you get, don't get a single skin festival tent, you will be soaked with condensation.

We have a 3 man pop up tent from Decathlon, and I thoroughly recommend it. It isn't huge, and we can't stand up in it, so have to dress kneeling, which can be awkward.

But it fits either a kingsize air bed, with just enough room at the side for bags. Or it fits 2 single camp beds with matresses (bags stored underneath), and a section down the middle. The 2 beds works best as you can sit down on something solid, making getting changed much easier. It also takes about 5 minutes to put up, including pegs and guy ropes.

It's blackout, double skinned, very warm and cosy through the night, but ventilates well and doesn't over heat if it's hot. I always sleep really well in it. I've not had any issues with condensation, and it's never leaked. Also has a tiny porch area, which is good for sorting out boots/coats if it's raining.

We've had it for several years now, and it's been dragged to a minimum of 2 festivals a year, usually more. The bag it comes in has a long adjustable strap, so for festivals I sling it over my back, and walk along looking like a turtle. But a turtle who has her hands free for other things so doesn't have to do a second walk to the car!

I have a Berghaus Lomond. Super easy to put up, spacious inside and pretty tall so you can stand to get changed. Easily fit a double airbed with space either side for luggage
Packs down fairly small

We've got a Berghaus air 4 which is good for long weekends if you want to be able to stand up, it does take up the back seat of a ford fiesta though.

I have also seen this type at festivals which looks good, again if you want standing space.
