I have a different vango and it’s great, best thing is it’s easy to buy replacement parts too (ours is 6 years old used multiple times a year)

We have a Berghaus 600xl nightfall and love it! Feels super spacious

Flamingmentalcats · 23/11/2025 15:51

When we camped we only ever bought Vango or Outwell as they seemed the best at the time and had higher HH than other tents

Vango - manly made in Scotland (anagram of Govan) and with plentiful parts and good customer service.

Vango. Long, long heritage of making quality tents. Berghaus are longstanding manufacturers of outdoor clothing, but newer to the tent market.

I feel a but dim that I’m only just realised that!

And I meant mainly not manly! 😂

We have been having the same debate @Spanielsandpups. Torn between the Vango Sherwood and the Berghaus Adhara 700 🤣
I think we’re settled on the Vango as it seems spares are much more readily available. From what I’ve seen, if there’s an issue with a Vango you can deal with them directly. Whereas Berghaus don’t actually take anything to do with their own tents - they are made for them and just branded with their name.

We live within half an hour of Vangos head office and they’re made to deal with our weather so I figure that should suit us well 😂

The Vango seems more spacious (those Icarus tents are fantastic) as it has full height bedroom all the way to the back, and the porch corners are not cut off, and I am personally averse to blue tents.

Does the Berghaus have a side door?

A very BIG watch out on many new model Vangos (and probably other makes) is that they now come with “easy access” doors, which means rather than having a full zip, with trip hazard lip/inaccessible lip for wheelchairs or push chairs (yes, I know, in tents 🤷‍♀️), the zip instead stops at the bottom of the vertical, and the floor has a flap held up with a toggle. It’s an absolute PITA because it means the tent is not fully sealed.

I was on a couple of camping forums when buying our new tent, and countless people are pissed off by bugs getting in, and also small dogs getting out. So many chat posts about people DIYing Velcro to close them up.

That aside, I have a seven man Vango, and I’m delighted with it. It’s bloody massive, but we wanted something which DH, 2 DC and I could be comfortable in for a long time in poor weather.
Vango and Berghaus are both decent. Personally with potential for future kids and dogs, I’d go bigger, unless it’s too expensive/heavy/large.

@MaggieFS This is a handy tip, thanks! Which Vango model do you have?

Both of these tents are exclusive to GoOutdoors (and Millets/ Blacks).

GoOutdoors have 3 own brand named tents: Eurohike (Basic), HiGear (Mid) and Berghaus (premium). Berghaus have loaned the brand name to GO, the tents are Berghaus in name only (but seem well made though).

Vango are a separate tent manufacturer but have made a few tents over the years exclusive to GO, including the Icarus 500.

They are both very popular tents on campsites and are decently made from what I can tell, I don't think you can wrong with either. For my choice, it'd be the Vango as the BH tents are dark inside with the bright blue fabric.
