Advice on camping

Me, my husband and 5 year old are due to go camping this weekend, however I have currently ill and may no longer be able to go.

We were due to go to an event and wouldn't be able to cancel

We have never camped before so had borrowed a large tent with little rooms etc, but I'm worried my husband will not be able to put it up if I don't get better in time

Does anyone have any advice on a tent that one person could put up, that's big enough for one child and one man for three days? That I can buy online

Any advice is really appreciated

I have a Slummit Cub which essentially works like an upside down umbrella mechanism. I solo camp and it takes me 5 minutes to fully pitch it. I also have an Alpkit Viso 2 for longer trips which has poles so takes a little longer but has the benefit of some living space. Both tents come in larger sizes. Hopefully the weather will be good then the tent will only be needed for sleeping and a bit of storage for clothes and food.

Do you know what tent it is you’d borrowed as someone may have it and be able to help. We have a large air tent with rooms and I can just about do that alone. Is it an event like a festival type thing? As there may then be people nearby willing to help if he’s struggling.

It’s also worth him doing a test run, putting it up in the garden first so he’s confident with set up.

The camping community is generally very friendly. I am sure he'd be able to find someone who could help him if he was struggling.

We recently bought a Coleman Darwin tent for our daughter. The 4 person one is very generously sized inside for a small tent, she can put it up herself (she's 12) and it has a porch area as well as the main tent. You can't stand up fully in it but you can almost, so for a 'small' tent it really has loads of space.

This one is an absolute dream.
Set up and pack away in minutes, black out for good sleep

This - everyone mucks in especially if you pick
someone who seems to be an experienced camper with all the gear - they usually LOVE helping others to set up!
