We have European breakdown but trying to ensure we are fully covered so if car was in an accident or breakdown or stolen we could continue holiday in a hire car and then if necessary have hire car to bring stuff back to UK? Is there such a cover? Thanks

Years ago we had European cover with Green Flag. They did all of the above except they couldn't find a large enough hire car for us until it was time to come home, and it wasn't really big enough - we had to leave a lot of possessions in our own car to be recovered back.
The hire car had to be returned in Calais, and then we travelled as foot passengers to Dover where we picked up another hire car. Our own car was recovered back about three weeks after us. It was a very stressful time!

@not4profit yes that is exactly what i am trying to avoid but it seems no one does insurance that would actually get you home with your camping gear. We certainly couldnt carry it onto a ferry to change hire car in the UK. Anyone know any different?

Do you have to get all the camping gear back with you- ie is it borrowed or do you have a trip planned as soon as you get back?
When we broke down we were given a hire car to leave at Dover and then took the ferry back as foot passengers, then train. Car followed 6 weeks later and we had a hire car provided in the interim. All with green flag.
