Night time loo visits

Advice please. We might be staying in a Yurt next year. I’ve done camping before but always struggle as need loo sometimes several times a night and getting up to go to the toilet block isn’t great for a restful night.
Does anyone use SheWees when camping ?
Any other ideas would be welcome.
thanks in advance

I used a plastic bottle with lid, together with a funnel. I kept them in the porch part of my tent, and one day the bottle disappeared. I had to get a replacement, but grinned to myself, thinking of what the thief used it for.

We used a porta potty that we had with us for the kids. Not for number 2 obvs but fine for wees as you can sit on it then empty it outside.
Edit: it was a 'my carry potty' that had a lid and a proper closing mechanism plus handle.

You can buy a cheap bucket camping loo with a lid which is ideal for middle of the night wees. If theres a chemical disposal point you can put the proper chemicals in. Or if not just put a dash of zoflora in it with a bit of water and tip it down the normal loo in the morning.

My parents have a small portable loo (bucket sort of size!), that they take with them when they go on long walks - as they are both older they like having it for emergency wees by the car. You could get something like that for night wees.

A tip I saw on here and use is to line a small bucket with a bin liner and put some cat litter in the bottom as that absorbs the wee so no danger of spills if you use it in the tent.

Next morning, tie up the bag and dispose of it. You can even pre-layer the bucket for a few nights.

We have a plastic Jerry can (plus a funnel for me - the boys just wee straight into it)

Thanks so much ! I asked the owner of the yurt company if I could bring a portaloo and they said no !
I will keep these recommendations. Many thanks again

I use a bucket with a lid and empty it in the toilet in the morning. Another option is to buy commode pads from Amazon and put one in a bin liner in a bucket - it's a bit more discreet as you can just tie it up and pop it in with the rubbish.

That’s great. Thank you

Great link. Thank you.
I meant a camping toilet but they said no but could put me near toilet block.

This is great thanks. I don’t know what they thought I meant. I just meant loos you can use when camping but your link is great. Cheap too

We got a bucket with a sort of toilet seat and lid from a camping shop. We lined it with a bin bag and a few handfuls of cat litter. It worked well as a nighttime solution.

Mouldwarp · 21/06/2025 22:59

We also had a thing that looked like a very small camping chair/stool. You pulled back a piece of fabric which was attached by Velcro and there was a hole. You attached a small bin bag or carrier bag and I put a cheap nappy inside. Tied it up once done, easy.

lunaswand · 07/07/2025 12:36

just request at the camp site that you are not miles from a loo

TaupeRaven · 07/07/2025 12:40

We keep these pads from Amazon in our camper for emergencies. We always use campsites and walk to the loos during the night, but it wouldn't be the first time we've been driving in the middle of nowhere and I've been bursting for a wee! A bucket, a bin liner, and one of these is the best of a bunch of bad options!
