Camping hobs

Hello,

I'm going to buy a camping hob. Do most campsites insist on having hobs off the grass when on? I'll be travelling by public transport and was hoping not to take a table or chair. I'm going all back to basics.

A small gas stove?

No all the heat goes upwards. I have never come across a site asking for stoves to be off the ground.

I would keep a large bottle of water next to it though in case sparks land on dry grass or it gets knocked.

Its a common rule for barbecues but I've never seen it for stoves.

We have a tiny folding one a bit like this that sits on top of a small gas bottle, it's brilliant and has been on many lightweight adventures.

We have a trangia stove and have used it with gas and spirit, neither have marked the grass. It's easy to carry too, stove pans and everything collapse into the size of a biscuit tin.
