Opinions on tent box?

Hi all

Im looking for honest opinions from anyone who owns a tent box?

we have had everything else through the years static caravans touring caravans tents trailer tents etc.

the idea would just be for 1 or 2 nights one adult and one possibly two kids so I don’t think we’d need a huge set up with extra pup tents etc.

How will you feel about clambering down a ladder to go to the toilet at night?

Where will you cook?

Where will you sit when it's raining?

To be honest for what I intend to use it for I wouldn’t be going in the rain and would just take a travel kettle and portable bbq and mostly eat out so I’m not too worried about that

They make me laugh. People pretending to be on safari while in a field on Anglesey.

I can't really see the point in them.

They're far more expensive than an ordinary tent.
If it's windy you'd really feel it.
You have to climb up and down a ladder.
No porch for shoes, cooking etc.

I also know someone whose tent came off while he was driving!

+1 on an ordinary tent is cheaper, smaller, more space and better in inclement weather.
If for some reason being on top of a wobbly car is worth it, then Tentbox seem well made.
But, a normal tent still to my eyes seems better.

They get stolen a lot

My friend has one and loves it. Importantly she sleeps like the dead and tends not to need to pee at night.

We were in our campervan a couple of weeks ago. Staying at a lovely bayside campsite. One night the wind was blowing hard and the woman who had a tent box had it collapse. The thought of going down the ladder in the middle of the night as well.
