Hi all!
We’re new to this but we’re hiring a motorhome this summer and plan to drive through Netherlands, Belgium and to Southern France then back up to cross at Calais.
Are there any hidden gems you’ve stayed at? We have teenagers so thinking a mix of
places with nice lakes/rivers and some larger areas with a beach and or outdoor pools?
Thanks!

Cosycamp in the Auvergne is our absolute favourite in terms of campsite atmosphere, staff and cleanliness.

Le Chatelet is a smallish site with gorgeous sea views. Hopefully the proximity to good surfing beaches will make up for the lack of teen facilities!

In the south, Domaine de la Bergerie just outside of Frejus is lovely.
Domaine La Rive is a fantastic lakeside site with SO many facilities but you won’t be able to do both Bergerie and Rive because they’re in two very different directions!

No site recs but just got back from NL and can recommend the following for teens:

Rotterdam has a really cool food hall called Markthal only open on Sundays plus a boat tour of the harbour, freight ships are surprisingly interesting and they have a pinball museum.

Cycling near the kinderdijk windmills. Park for free in the big car park near cafe de klok where you can rent bikes for EUR10 each for the day, open from 11.

Efteling. Can you camp near here? The kids will love it. If they are thrill seekers head to Baron 1892, python and the large wooden roller coaster and there's a water coaster called the flying Dutch man. As well as vogel rok a nice little coaster in the dark. Plus not scary, danse macabre is really fun kind of whirls you to music and there's a little drop. It's got a lot of tame stuff too that's fun to stroll around. Get in early to avoid the big queues. Recommend staying onsite. Bosrijk is a castle in the woods about 5 mins from the park entrance with a fun pool that combines spa jets with a not so lazy river.

For culture we did MC escher at the hague but the hague historical buildings are under renovation so didn't get to see the rest of the town.
