Norfolk caravan site wanted!

We have just got back from a lovely caravan holiday with DS and want to book something for the summer. We're thinking of the Norfolk coast, would need to be easy (walking) access to the beach, with static caravans for hire, and preferably either have a bar/restaurant on-site or be walking distance to a village with pub. Ideally near places to go if it rains!

Don't mind if it's an independent site or a Haven-type place. DS will be 18mo.

This one is lovely www.ivy-farm.co.uk/. I used to live quite close to Overstrand, which isn't far from Cromer. The site doesn't have many facilities, but does have a children's play area and an outdoor pool. It's literally five minutes walk down to a gorgeous beach. The village has several shops and a pub and cafe. I often take DS there as there's a lovely play area on the clifftop and we go to the cafe for lunch too. The owners of the site are very friendly and have lots of the same visitors year after year. Cromer has all the usual touristy stuff without being too big. (amusment arcade and pier, fish and chips etc). Sheringham, which is a little further along the coast is a bit more "upmarket" and has lots of small independent shops, fishing boats etc. Anywhere in that area would be fine imo.
If I were you, I'd avoid any of the big camps around Great Yarmouth, as they can be a bit noisy and "tacky". Hope this is of some help. The local council is North Norfolk District Council, so I'm sure you could find more info on their website. Have a lovely holiday!

There is a Haven site near GreatYarmouth. and Vauxhall static site is within walking distance of Yarmouth there is also Asda near by.

I too would steer clear of Yarmouth. Very touristy/tacky - your kind of downmarket Blackpool really. The ivy farm one above looks lovely!

I can recommend a place that rents out Tee-pees! But not caravans. Deepdale camping. fantastic place, with a terrific cafe on site

Never been to Ivy Farm but having been to Overstrand, I can say the walk down to the beach would not be a problem. It does have steps but also a long winding ramp. I went to Overstrand 2 years ago when I was 8months pregnant, and had to pause a few times on the way back up the slope. I would say an 18m should manage it, albeit with a few pauses on the journey home. I echo Surprise's comments, Overstrand is lovely and the cafe wonderful (also helpfully placed at top of slope to beach, great for toilet emergencys)

MB, that Deepdale place does look fab, but I think would be better when DS is a little older -- he is not a great sleeper and needs to be in a dark, quiet room to settle. Love the idea of a teepee though!

We are going to vAUXHALL FOR THE 2ND YEAR WE WENT ABOUT 3 YEARS AGO AND STAYED IN A STATIC WE ARE GOING BACK THIS YEAR WITH OUR OWN CARAVAN IT IS BRILLIANT THERE FOR KIDS A LOT BETTER THAN HAVEN AND IT ISNT IN THE CENTRE OF YARMOUTH SO YOU HAVNT GOT THE CROWDS . THERE ARE SO MANY PLACES TO VISIT AROUND THERE WITHOUT GOING INTO YARMOUTH ITSELF.
I THINK THERE ARE ABOUT 4 SWIMMING POOLS AND THE CHILDRENS ENTERTAINMENT IT BRILLIANT

So glad to hear that you enjoyed it - odd thing is, we camped there this weekend so might even have bumped into you on friday night!

Quite possible -- if you saw a tired-looking mum chasing a 16mo boy around the playground, that was me!
