is it worth joining the camping and caravanning club to stay in a small tent onm their ,members only sites

their sites are very clean and tidy, bordering on the obsessively so - I like a clean loo as much as the next person but I like feeling like I'm camping!! It's camping for softies (DH), I like it wild!!

Banham and Kessingland are two great sites by the way, next door to Banham is Banham zoo and next door to Kessingland is Africa Alive safari park. Both fab.

The other good thing about camping club sites is they do shut down the kids play area once it's dark and do clamp down on the noisy bastards that party all night.

where in uk do you fancy going - I can recommend idyllic unspoilt place but is in Highlands of Scotland!

I'm a member of both camping and caravanning club and caravan club. The latter is very much more blue rinse - I'm not sure why we are members actually as we rarely stay on their sites. The C&C Club is much more friendly and not quite so 'bad'.

think if it is at al blue rinse me and bf would appear er odd

I was wondering about this too, we recently bought a trailor tent, and wait to go and use it in the summer, but would actually like to be meeting up with other famiies as dd is an only child and always looks for children to play with etc

C&C Club is lovely - and their online booking system is very good.

We're in the caravan and camping club - the sites are cheaper and usually very nice. Some are a bit don't step on the grass, but most so far have been just like the quality site you get on the continent. Our local one, Hayfield, is lovely, small, you can have fires etc. You can also go for the certified sites which tend to have fewer facilities and some are tiny (1 small field).

Chocolatemummy - we joined because we now have the children, and so far it has been great. The discounted rates work out very well, you recoup your membership in your first few day's camping.

well I know it could potentially be disasterous with some families (thinking of Benidorm ITV fri eves!) but also it could be lovely to meet up with other young families, BBQ's etc

You can be as sociable or private as you like, but the children love making friends on campsites. The sites we've been on are friendly,but not like haven holidays or Butlins or anything like that.

we're not members, but the camp sites we've been to have been friendly, and ds has made friends with the other children on the sites, and gone off playing with them. on one site last summer, even the adults without children joined in playing football with the children and parents, the site we have just been to was very friendly, not quite the same as it was a terraced site and we were put with lots of carravans which had more older people, we were seperate from the other families, but the children used to come down "knocking" for ds to go and play

My PIL go regularly to C&C sites and take my kids they have a great time, I like the fact that the sites are run a bit more strictly feel the kids are dafe and you can get a good nights sleep.

I stayed on one on the way to london at easter and managed to book one of the few sites without a toilet block, I didn't read the description, I was so looking forward to a shower, shower blocks are normaly spotless and might even have net curtains .

We stayed at a CL on the way back I was hoping for a nice quite spot but ended up right in front of their front door in the farmyard, felt a bit on show, but thats where they always park the camper vans, I probably would have sunk up to my axels on the grass anyway
