Campsites with super clean (ie no / few spiders) loos and showers

Im hoping to go camping in the summer for more than a long weekend and i really really dont like spiders at all.

(i mean they really frighten me)
yes its silly i know, but hey thats just how i am!

Has anyone been to a campsite where the toilets were extra clean, or even not that clean but without many spiders and spider webs?

I dont mind where in england as such...

perhaps anywhere 'south of the midlands' (and that includes right down south / kent / cornwall etc)

Yes! Try Dornafield in S Devon (and Ross Park next door-ish)- their shower block is nicer than mine at home.

How about looking for Loo of the Year awards?

Camping & Caravanning Club sites (website here) tend to be very well-kept and clean, although a bit more expensive than other sites. We like Normans Bay, near Pevensey, E Sussex.

lillypie · 20/04/2008 11:10

We stay here
a lot,it's lovely.

we've just been to Parkers Farm in devon. it was a very well kept site- i didnt see any spiders- and everyone in a 20 miles radius hears if i do!

oh peachy you'll have a fabulous spider free time

kiera · 21/04/2008 09:42

Don't worry I am just the same - hate them!

We stayed at Home Farm campsite on Angelsey 2 years ago and I loved the fact that I didn't see a single one the whole week until the very last day (and that was in the tent so we could well have brought it from home). Not a single one in the toilet/shower block which was extremely clean, in fact they have won awards for their toilets

kiera · 21/04/2008 09:44

the most beautiful campsite we ever stayed at was at St Davids in Pembrokeshire right on the cliffs, the views were stunning. however the shower block was horrific from an arachaphobic point of view. big black ones sitting on their webs above every shower [shudder] never again!

SheRa · 21/04/2008 09:52

Another vote for Dornafield in Devon. The best campsite toilets I have ever visited!

seeker · 21/04/2008 09:58

Oh, is Normans Bay nice, Meg? We're going there in a couple of weeks.

MegBusset · 21/04/2008 10:43

Normans Bay is lovely, we have been there many times (not with DS yet, though). The Star Inn is a good pub you can walk to from there (turn left out of the site, over the level crossing, then right), it has a huge garden with a river running through it and a playground.

We'll be in Pevensey next week as it happens, but we're staying in a caravan on another site nearby, as not quite brave enough to camp with a light-sleeping 14mo!

seeker · 21/04/2008 10:50

Sounds good. Have you tried Folkestone Warren? That's our favourite. Only downside - long walk to the pub!

MegBusset · 21/04/2008 11:02

Haven't been to that one, no (pre-DS, proximity to pub was the no.1 factor when choosing a campsite!).

dustystar · 21/04/2008 12:58

This site has fantastic loos and showers plus nice sized family bathrooms too.

WestCountryLass · 21/04/2008 19:27

We just got back from a week at Well Park in Tenby and it had very clean facilities with no spiders. The shower block was new and was the cleanest site I have stayed at.

We visited a friend camping at Stowford Farm Meadows in Devon and the shower block there was amazing, the cleanest I have ever seen. It had under floor heating and everything!

redwino · 21/04/2008 19:39

Deers Glade near Cromer Norfolk has fantastic spider free showers. Best site I have ever been to for facilities.

oldlady40 · 24/04/2008 12:16

Eskdale Camping and Caravanning site is the best site in the western lake district also near the ravenglass miniature railway and lovely walks. Lovely clean showers, family bathroom, play area and great shop. Fantastic site but don't tell anyone! Need to book early as is now very popular. we tried to book in for the end of may and can't get in.
