My teen is going wild camping with a few friends. They’re good kids and have thought things through as much as they can but none of us have ever wild camped before so we don’t have the benefit of experience.

please could anyone who has wild camped before help me check the list they’ve made and help them consider additional items?

list so far:
torch
water bottle
bowl, plate, cup, cutlery
charge pack and cable
blister plasters
sun cream
insect repellant
toothbrush and toothpaste
sleep mat
sleeping bag
pillow
socks, pants, trousers, T-shirt’s, hoody, rain coat
carrier bags
wooly hat
Swiss Army knife
first aid kit (tubigrip, bandage, antiseptic wipes, ?
sugary snacks
tissues/toilet roll
trowel
hand sanitiser

A lifestraw (small water filter)
Sleeping bag liner (small and adds warmth and keeps sleeping bag cleaner)
Merino base layers if cold at night
Headtorch with a red light (doesn't spoil your night vision like a white one)
Dry bag for the sleeping bag (nothing worse than a damp sleeping bag)

How did he get on?

Pretty well thanks, @jennylamb1.

He was cold at night (told him so) but they really enjoyed themselves.

Lost a couple of things but fortunately nothing of great value.

That's great! A good experience to support their growing independence.

i thought tissues/toilet paper might be environmentally better than wipes.

I hope you're not suggesting that they bury these, or shove them under a bush or something.

Exactly. I even received a text update each day <proud>

I think you and him have done a great job. I quite fancy wild camping after braving a heaving August Bank Holiday campsite.
