We are keen campers as a young family of 5 but are looking to branch out from our usual camping spots and are hoping for some recommendations please.

We are happy to travel anywhere in Britain and are looking to go quite a few times this year. We are from Essex and have done most of Suffolk already so probably don't want those areas.

We generally love more remote or wilder camping sites but often the kids also enjoy ones with parks and other facilities too. The eldest doesn't like the big open fields though, he does need to feel somewhat secluded and requires decent distance between pitches.

Is anyone able to recommend places? Thank you.

Fox Wood and Blackberry Wood in Sussex
Clippesby Hall in Norfolk is a big site, but it never feels that way because there are several different secluded camping areas.

Thank you! Big sites are okay when they've got secluded fields, we actually loved Tantallon Park in North Berwick, as although it's a huge caravan site the camping fields felt cosy

South meadows at Belford, it’s a great location to explore Alnwick, bamburgh and Berwick upon tweed.

Nethergong-worth is for the name alone, but it's also A great family site.

Folkestone Warren - the one at the bottom of the cliff, not the top.

If you don't mind midges, Rosemarkie Beach on the Black Isle. Get the right pitch and you can watch dolphins from your tent.

Long long drive but Sands campsite in Gairloch - amazing!

Llyn Gwynant in north Wales is my go-to site. There aren't many reserved pitches so you can pitch wherever you like. It does get busy though.

Lots of the Sussex woodland sites: Secret Campsite, Beech Wood, Blackberry Wood etc

Another vote for Llyn Gwynant
This is also great but smaller

Its a basic small site but the location is fantastic, plenty to see and do in the area too

Campsite | Treheli Farm Caravan & Campsite | Wales

Treheli Farm Caravan & Campsite is a stunning coastal campsite on the corner of Porth Neigwl in North Wales.

Low Wray on Lake Windermere. It’s a National Trust site and is lovely.

Seaview Gorran Haven, St Austell, Cornwall. Excellent facilities, swimming pool, short walk down the hill to the beach. Lots of things to see and do nearby/short drives away.

Look at this small site in Cornwall

We love the one at Rhossilli Bay in Gower. Beautiful scenery, backs onto sand dunes, and there's also a playground and small cafe.

Just wanted to say thank you for the recommendation for Nethergong @CurlewKate - just had a fantastic time there with the kids

Looking forward to trying out the other recommendations too.

Just thought I would add, as people might be looking for late bookings. We loved this as a family. Check out the map which shows everything available.
