halfords starter pack..

do you think this would be a good starter pack for us? £100 off the moment so i'm quite tempted!

that looks exactly like the pack we bought. we paid more as we bought it nearly 2 years ago, but didnt use it til last year as i had my dd after we bought it. we bought it as our starter pack, and we love it
we used it for me, my xp my ds and dd.
its very good easy to put up, between 2 of us (neither of us had put up a tent before)
how many of you are going?

it will be me, DH, DD who is nearly 4 and DS who is just 1 - DH has agreed we should go ahead and get the starter pack so think I might take the plunge and order it today! Excellent to hear some feedback that you got on really well with it so thanks for that.

i think its really good- we loved it children included, the bedrooms we set up so i slept in one with ds9 and xp slept with dd1 ( i may go out with the kids with him- but I'm not sleeping with him )
we had plenty of room for sleeping, even on the night when i somehow got both dc in with me .
we did find we need to move the bags of clothes into the bedroom areas in the day to make space for sitting- but i think we ever so slightly overpacked, we took everything not knowing what we'd need as was our frst time camoing, we not planning on taking so much this time round

I think its pretty good of you to let him holiday with you ! I have reserved the tent online and hoping to collect it tonight!

lol i'd have to buy my own tent etc if i didn't .
no seriously tho, we get on so much better apart than we do together, it makes things easier if we go together- we split the cost of everything, the pitch, diesel food, trips out etc so we can have a really enjoyable holiday.
best bit of camping is when you need to bite your lip and keep the peace. there always dishes to wash and the wash up area is a good walk to calm down while your gone!! this doesnt happen as much when we are away, which is good

hope you enjoy camping. when are you planning on trying the new tent out?

I bought the new tent yesterday so getting quite excited!! Also got a set of pans half price too. Now just have to decide where to go for our first trip - we're thinking mid/end June - do you have any recommendations - I'm thinking somewhere near the sea so maybe devon/cornwall. I am a bit worried that we'll end up arguing so I'll remember the trip to do the washing up as I like a bit of a sulk to calm me down!

If you're brand new to camping then go for your first trip to a camp site within easy reach of home.

Then if you forget something, or the weather is pants then it's easy enough to just go home.

I'm off to Devon for a week nest weekend, so will let you know all about the site we are visiting when we get back.
we did as suggested by mrspnut last year and went camping about a 45 min drive from home, so if we decided we didnt like it we could get home easy enough. as it was we loved it and didnt want to come home!!

and when it came, it had the Halfords labels on and i realised it was the one they were selling for £100.

haven't camped in it yet but tried it in garden and well worth the money I would say.

I paid £30 plus p£p last year. Prices have gone up now but still a bargain compared to Halfords.

am now we paid lods for that in halfords- prefer that colour too ours is green!

I think even at £100 its cheap when you think it comes with 2 airbeds, 4 sleeping bags and 2 lights. How much would that lot be separate?

I prefer green to blue, blends in better with the bushes lol.

lol we paid nearer £150 for it the other year, i think. but as you say you get loads with it am more envious of the colour than the price i'm not a fan of green
