We never stopped. We go all year round as the Alde wet heating keeps us nice and cosy. It’s lovely to escape at the weekends.

Cotswoldbee · 22/02/2024 19:01

We used our Moho all year, it is winterised so why not use it?
Would be walking in the countryside with Ddogs daily anyway so may as well visit different places.

We went at half term for the first time ever. My happy place for sure.

We've had our first visit this weekend to our sited seasonal pitch! Wasn't raining when we left home but hasn't stopped since we arrived 🤣🤣🤣. We are new to caravan life and never even occurred to us we might be kept awake by rain noise, how naive! Apart from that we absolutely love it! Just need some earplugs...

Funderthighs · 17/03/2024 08:35

We try to ensure that we never park under a tree as we find the constant drip, drip from the branches when it rains, is the most annoying thing. We have noise cancelling headphones too which can be really handy in torrential rain.

Went away in our new caravan for the first time this weekend! I was a caravan virgin, DH a seasoned pro... we took a teenager, a toddler and a dog.

Baptism of fire much?

I bought myself a GoPod a couple of weeks ago for me and my dog!! First weekend away (due to bad planning of volunteering duties rather than lack of desire!) is 13/14th April. Hoping for some nice weekends before then so I can figure out the awning and also get my pots and pans in place.

Milliways · 19/03/2024 15:54

We’ve had 3 weekends away this year ( and also were away for New Year), as like to use our van all year round too.

Netcam · 28/04/2024 08:54

We went away for 5 nights in the Peak District at Easter. We had 2 good days of hiking and 2 days of torrential rain. We were glad to have brought the travel scrabble and downloaded some Netflix. We have a great Truma gas heater in our micro caravan but don't leave it on at night. It was pretty cold at night but we we were OK with the warm duvet and warm clothing.

Cotswoldbee · 28/04/2024 09:44

Going away again in the Moho for a cheeky mid-week break (best thing about being retired is that you can go when most others are at work).
Don't think we have been away this year when it hadn't been raining but when walking the Ddogs through the countryside, it may as well be somewhere new as at home.☔
Leave our heating on all night but thermostat controlled (and at a lower temp than daytime of course).

First trip of the year was early March, then we went away last week and it was very cold, had to have the heating on a lot, we are going away May and then June, July, alway miss school hols then long trip to Scotland in September/October. We are retired so miss the school and bank holidays, we usually go for about a 7-9 days unless a long distance trip like Scotland or Cornwall, then at least two weeks. We try not to pitch under trees unless it's really hot and we want the shade.
