Where do you store your tent?

We have a mice infested shed and don't want to risk the tent in there. At the moment it's looking cumbersome in the house.

Does anyone know of vermin proof storage?

I think best to get a 'Really useful box' and store in there if it fits. That's my plan anyway once I've sorted everything out.

Iheartmysmart · 19/02/2024 15:37

Under my bed - but it is a very small tent and I live in a flat with absolutely no storage space whatsoever so have limited options. I’ve decided to reduce all my camping equipment this year and just take the basics going forward.

BlueShed · 19/02/2024 15:39

We have a heavy duty thick plastic storage box from Amazon and keep it in the garage. Haven't checked it for a hike, but hopefully it's vermin-proof!

BlueShed · 19/02/2024 15:39

For a while!

Whatineed · 19/02/2024 15:41

I bought some racking shelves and built them in my cellar for my camping gear after suffering a washing machine flood one year. Now my camping gear is neatly stacked and safely off the floor, and organised so I can choose what to take depending on which kind of trip.

Thanks- forgot I'd posted!

Mine is also under my bed

HeadShoulderHipsandCalves · 20/02/2024 18:40

Our tent us a huge 8 person air tent- my bed would be half way to the ceiling!

Our 8 person air tent lived in the bottom of our wardrobe, it currently lives at my mum's house! Our new 6 person air tent lives under DS's bed, admittedly it doesn't slide under it has to be carefully packed then the bed lifted up to insert it though!

EveSix · 20/02/2024 18:53

Two huge cotton canvas tents live in my airing cupboard as they'll go mildewey if they get damp.

Koalaslippers · 27/02/2024 21:17

Old 6 person tent lived in the attic, new tent is too big / heavy and we've emptied an old airing cupboard for it.

Grumpynan · 27/02/2024 21:19

My son keeps his in my spare room 😂

PuttingDownRoots · 27/02/2024 21:22

Our berghaus 6xl air lives in the built in wardrobe in our bedroom. It takes up pretty much the whole thing. Although it summers in the conservatory so we don't have to lug it up and door the stairs constantly.

All the other gear is in the attic, but we don't think we could physically get it up there!

yodog · 27/02/2024 21:27

My vango air tent is in our built in wardrobe. Takes up half the floor space but is safe in their. everything else is kept in a trailer and storage box outside..

CadyEastman · 06/03/2024 20:37

Garage but we do have humane mice traps down.

biarritz · 06/03/2024 20:46

Keep the tent in a plastic storage crate in the garage. Air beds, sleeping bags etc are kept in the house.

tangycheesythings · 06/03/2024 20:48

airing cupboard

TitInATrance · 06/03/2024 21:05

My very small tent lives in the bottom of a wardrobe with 2 sleeping bags and a camping mat - doesn’t impinge on the hanging space.

purplesparklydinosaur · 04/04/2024 14:39

In the cellar (which is dry).

Maddy70 · 04/04/2024 14:45

Attic

Or spare room under a bed. It needs to stay dry

WonderingWanda · 04/04/2024 15:08

Our old one used to go in the loft but the new one is too big. It's in the bottom of a build in wardrobe, it's pretty big and in the way but the doors do shut. Wish I had a garage to store it in.

Advent0range · 05/04/2024 14:48

In this outside cupboard.

Where do you store your tent?
Advent0range · 05/04/2024 14:48

Same type of tent OP. Flipping heavy and too big to store inside!

Mumaway · 05/04/2024 15:00

Ours (same size) is in the bottom of the spare room wardrobe. It's too big and heavy to get into the loft, and too damp in the old shed. We did think about buying one of those outdoor plastic storage crates/boxes but again were worried about damp.
