Camping in Portland Bill, Dorset - nicest campsites?

I have a list of campsites in Portland. However I've never been there. I was thinking of August. Does anyone have any they would particularly recommend as being good? Thank you for any advice, much appreciated.

Have you looked the sites up on the Ukcampsites website? You can read reviews of sites there. I find it really helpful.

Well, actually ... no. I am not in any way knowledgeable about camping and I didn't know there was such a thing 😁. I did try Trip Advisor but it didn't have much. Off to ukcampsites right now!! TY

Bit further from Weymouth but Wareham Forest touring site is lovely

Doesn't strictly have to be Portland, but DH likes it from previous visits. (I don't think I've ever been there)
Could actually be anywhere around Weymouth
DS is doing a sports activity in Weymouth
DH and DS said they fancied camping
I am not going but volunteered to be the researcher for them

Just looking up PP's recommendations above 😀

Sailing? If so then Portland would make sense.

What do you want from a campsite?

Yes that’s right, sailing.
I googled one campsite on Portland which advertises as “ nearly wild camping” i.e. has compost toilets. DH said that was a bit too basic given they would be there a week. But doesn’t need to be too glamorous. Flushing, toilets and a shower and drinking water would do. An on-site or nearby shop would be a bonus

Just checked out these two places and this places Bagwell farm is a nice site is twice the price of this place, for the same weekend and number of nights Wareham Forest touring site

thanks for the recommendation - can't see that much difference between the sites - is there a reason do you think?
