Hi, I have just booked 2 weeks camping here, and wondered if anyone had been camping here, and had any tips? We've been to the scillies lots but never camped with the kids here (or anywhere else for that matter!). Any thoughts appreciated!!

Will watch with interest.

How do you transport everything with kids, is St Mary's car free?????

St Mary's is mostly but not totally car free.

If you are staying at the Garrison campsite, the nice owners used to meet you off the ferry with a trailer to put all your stuff in and take you up to the site. This was a few years ago - don't know if they still do this. Best to phone up and check.
We took our own bikes with us to get around.

Camping on the Scillies can be breezy. Ideally pick a sheltered spot and get those guy ropes tightened.

Lovely part of the world. Have fun!

It's more than 20 years since I last when to the Scillies and one day I will manage to go back...

is there much to do there?

chaos321 · 07/03/2008 10:54

lots to do - lovely beaches, walks, boat trips etc. hardly any shops, no 'attractions' as such.

if its just beaches and walks etc then i suppose you have to rely very much on the weather.
