Please help me buy a bit of kit to get decent broadband

As the username suggests, my brain is getting frazzled by all the options out there.

I would love to spend the summer in my caravan, but realistically need a decent internet signal to be able to work (and keep the kids happy streaming TV). I am going to be based in one location (in the Highlands) all summer, so no moving around from day to day.

I think the best (cheapest and most reliable) option is to buy a smarty SIM and put it into a mobile router from Amazon. The problem is which mobile router? So many options, so little knowledge!

I think I need an unlocked dual band box bit, and possibly with an external omni directional aerial to get the best signal possible. Does that make sense?

How do you know which boxes can have an external aerial fitted? Some of them advertise 300mbps. Is that a good number?

Does the site in the highlands have good 4g? Some spots have nothing

Patchy in places, mainly due to topography/line of sight issues, but far better than you might expect.

I'm interested too as the Caravan and Motorhome Club's on site WiFi has been screwed up bigtime while a change of provider is completed.

We have bought one of these, and a Smarty SIM card (100gb for £12).

Set it up this weekend and appears to be working well.
