Can anyone recommend a site, preferably fairly central for first time campers. We are just starting out and want one or two nights, not far from home to test things out. Ideally we’d like something within walking distance to a town for dinner. I don’t want to cook but will make breakfast or if no town, a club house/bar onsite. Is there such a place?

The CCC site at Moffat is close to the town and really good It is about 50 miles South of Glasgow.

Witches Craig in Blair logic gets a good name. Jot part9walking distance of town but on a frequent bus or taxi route.
