Just wondering if anyone has bought anything new for the new camping season?

Not that I'm on the look out for new gadgets to buy...Grin

I bought a few of these in lovely colours, to go on top of my cupboard and hold things like condiments/ cutlery/ various things that I spend ages rummaging in my kitchen box for

I need a new kettle as the handle in mine has gone nasty. It will be stainless steel, fold down handle.

I bought one of these small flat pack bedside tables last year, ideal for phone, glasses, keys, earrings, kindle etc https://www.decathlon.co.uk/p/camping-bedside-table-compact/_/R-p-326577

Weve just bought a leisure battery so we aren't as reliant on EHU. Getting some solar panels to go with it.

We were in decathlon last week and they had an inflatable shelving unit. Completely don't need it but we so wanted it! We did get an electric pump for the tent and paddleboard though (runs off the car)

LuckOfTheDrawer · 14/05/2023 12:49

I bought a rumpl pillowcase thing - you're supposed to fill it with a fleece / similar to sleep on.

I'd really like a Decthlon camping kitchen.

LuckOfTheDrawer · 14/05/2023 12:55

And a new air tent 😄😳.

EggInANest · 14/05/2023 14:51

I bought some solar powered fairy lights from Tesco. £4 Clubcard price. The sort with tiny lights in a wire.

EggInANest · 14/05/2023 14:53

And a RidgeMonkey sandwich / burger / etc toaster

Namechangeforthis88 · 14/05/2023 14:58

Excited by my new tarp kit. Our tent doesn't have a porch so I look forward to having some shelter to cook/make a brew when it's raining, and for the inning and outing shoe and coat faffing.

Wow! Which one did you get?

We bought 2 duvalay sleeping bags - had the best nights sleep.

LuckOfTheDrawer · 14/05/2023 17:03

Sorry, I just meant that I'd like a new air tent!

Sorry totally misread that one then!

We got our pole tent secondhand a few years ago. I'm going to see how it is this year, and maybe pass it on at the end of the season. I'd like an air tent, but I worry about the size and weight of it - does anyone have one?

We have one and it's absolutely huge! Yes, you can pitch it fairly quickly and our old pole tent had done many, many years of trips but I wish I'd paid more attention to the weight and size before buying. I do love it though Wink

I remain sceptical about air tents. Expensive for the life of a polyester tent (the fabric deteriorates in UV light, they don’t last forever), I have never found poled tents difficult or time consuming to put up, and I need to pack economically. Some of those air tents would leave no space in my modest car for anything else. And to get the best out of an air tent you need a good electric pump. I tend to go to basic off grid sites, many of which don’t allow you to take your car to your pitch.

I think it depends what suits your camping style.

PuttingDownRoots · 14/05/2023 17:18

Our air tent weighs 36kg!!! Its mahoosive. It is a 6XL though.

LuckOfTheDrawer · 14/05/2023 17:45

Thanks everyone - I'm now looking at a poled Coleman tent with blackout bedrooms, and a third living space! It looks brilliant.

I blame you all.

SiouxsieSiouxStiletto · 14/05/2023 17:52

Ours is Coleman and I do like the blackout bedrooms Wink

Oh, that's good to know, thanks! I'm really tempted 😄.

Not a gadget, but I bought a large outdoor beach mat picnic blanket from Amazon. It's brilliant for camping, used it as a picnic mat, groundsheet for laying sleeping bags etc on, children use it to sit on whilst watching us put up the tent or try to turn it into a tent. Plus it's rolls up small and can be taken out and used as a picnic blanket elsewhere, I was very pleased with it.

I think I might need a link to that one Wink

I just got back from a weekend in the lakes. It was the first time I got to try out my Christmas presents.

a stretchy washing line with fixed pegs attached.
some solar fairy lights
a lantern with usb and solar (and works in reverse as a power bank to charge phones)
a dry robe (primarni version)

they are all my new favourite thing!
