Flags - why???

So sick of noisy bloody flags at campsites. If you have one - why?

They look naff and mark you out as someone who's going to be noisy IME.

They keep other campers awake!

Fair enough if you're at a festival and need a marker, I get that. But standard campsites?

A noisy flag is a good deterrent against the sort of camper that pitches so close to your pitch that they're close enough to be disturbed by the flag.

You know the sort, an empty field with only one camp already pitched and they insist on pitching their camp so close the guy ropes overlap.

Noisy flags?

Tanyaaah · 05/09/2022 13:15

How noisy can a flag be?

knackeredagain · 05/09/2022 13:15

I was just about to say how handy they are at festivals. Not sure why you’d need or want one at a normal
campsite

Wow I am going to very different campsites to you, never seen flags except at festivals. 🤷‍♀️

Helps the kids find the tent.

We take ours down at night though, or when very windy.

It helps me spot the type of people I like to avoid.

Or worse, huge flashing LED colour changing light poles.

tbf , on the kids of sites I choose no one has either. I go to smaller places with loads of space, no set pitches, not rows of tents that kids could get confused by, and no EHU to encourage such foolishness (as flashing poles, projectors for films with the sound on etc).

Bunting is much in evidence, but at least it’s tweeness is silent.
