Been camping before and bought lots of kit for it. All worked well and we enjoyed it and would like to camp again. BUT

We need to crack the sleeping situation. I was so uncomfortable to the point I barely slept. We had 10cm sims and I really thought they'd be ok but they just felt like hard ground. I've since experimented with them a bit as someone said open the valve for 5 secs and let some air out but they're still not great.

We want to buy something to go on top of the sims we have, so the sims would just be a base. But what? I always sleep well on a roll up futon mattress when I visit friends who don't have enough guest beds. Is there anything like that for camping? Am willing to spend to sort this out.

I tried the Decathlon bed base thing with an air bed and the base with a sim and it moved way too much, felt really rocky and every time I moved I felt a bit sick.

Has anyone used a Bill Brown roll up mattress? Would that be any good on top of the sims?

Eve sleep away mattress looks perfect but says not suitable for camping, something similar that IS suitable for camping would be perfect. Does anyone know of anything?

Is the Exped MegaMat worth it? Is thermarest worth it? What actually are they? Just fancy air beds? Sims?

Is the DuvaLay travel topper any good? Is it only for use in caravans or does anyone here use it for camping? The website is kinda confusing.

We'll be car camping so can go a bit bulky and we'll have a couple of king size duvets with us.

Thanks in advance for any help and advice
you can offer

When we camped in a tent, we used two single air mattresses. Not a double because it’s like trying to sleep in a boat on a rough sea. Despite their supposed shortcomings, I slept like a baby.

I’ve no experience of a travel topper but we use a two inch memory foam mattress topper on top of the standard mattress in our folding camper. We also use king size duvets rather than sleeping bags.

You could just take a roll up futon mattress if you like those?

That's the sort of thing DH takes.

I still have to blow air into my sim (manually or with a pump)

Me and the DC have SIMS too @ChatSamosa Wink

I second a memory foam topper on your sim. I bought ours off amazon, they were only about £20. Not high end quality but does the job, I put it inside a duvet cover which acts as a sheet/protector

DuvaLay is lush if you have the room.
