Another bloody SIM thread

I am humming and hahhing about changing from an aerobed to SIMs. I like camping but sleep so dreadfully on a blow up bed. I hate how I roll on to my husband, I can feel either one of us getting up for the loo and generally feel cold. That being said, SIMs are so bulky and heavy.

Do you think a 7.5cm double SIM is thick enough to go on the floor for side sleepers (in a size 16-18 so not the lightest)?

I’ve looked at the Quechua bases but they are very expensive, so wouldn’t be able to afford them (or have the space) for a double 7.5cm SIM as well. I notice in the Decathlon pictures they use the 5cm SIM but I wonder if this would be too thin.

Any recommendations for lightweight but comfortable, warm, non-rolling in the middle SIMs or combos are welcome.

I've got this 5cm one:

I've used it with a blanket beneath it and it it's been fine, both for back and side sleeping.

I would use 2 singles,
Double SIMS are a nightmare to rol up.

I use a 7.5Cm SIM, the underside of my thick sleeping bag helps, too. I weigh 65Kg.

Yes, I agree - two singles would be better.

I'm size 18 and slept recently on TWO 7.5cm SIMs, one on top of the other. It was not comfortable. Not at all.

What about a single air bed each? I'm going to try this next.

Two singles are much better ..

I use a SIM plus foam mat.

We ended up buying 2 single 5cm SIMs and the decathlon bases. The 7.5cm ones were just too bulky for us to carry when we wanted bases as well.

Separate beds.

Yes to SIM though. We both have the berghaus air 10 double. If you have the space it's worth it.
