Trangia - surface

Harking back to my DofE days and have bought a meths-fuelled Trangia for an upcoming camping trip, but I can’t remember if it scorches the grass. Does anyone know? And if so, what do you use as a heat proof surface? Don’t want to get thrown off the campsite!

It does if you get a bit of the meths slopping over the side when you fill it but doesnt during normal running/careful filling.

From my DH: it doesn't scorch grass unless you kick it over. (Past history there I think)
