Campsite availability - Wales in August

Like many others, we're looking at camping in UK this summer and was wondering on how easy/difficult people are finding it to book a pitch at campsite. Media coverage and some anecdotal reports from friends suggest it won't be easy especially in popular coastal/countryside areas.

To tie in with visiting relatives we're looking at going to mid Wales coast area. I had quick look last night and it appears there's v little availability on larger sites with facilities.

First time camping as family so we'd prefer to avoid the more basic sites if possible.

Have you used pitchup?
I find it the best as it lets you filter by dates, facilities etc.

what sort of facilities?

Thanks, last time camping was pre kids and bit more spontaneous without pre booking requirement. Saw some lovely looking campsites which had spaces though some were pretty basic (e.g no showers).

We camped here at the weekend and it was great:

Looks like they do have some availability in August.

Thanks for tips, in the end managed to find pitch with electric point on Llyn peninsula for next week - probably helped that there's so many campsites in that area
