I've bought one of the single ring, canister type csmpibg stoves. I'm just wondering how long the canisters last. I'm not going to be doing proper cooking as such. But would like a few teas/coffees and maybe cook some pasta/sausages.

We're going for 3 nights, me and 2 DC.

We use Campingaz R907 (2.75kg) which says lasts 3.5 hours which does us quite a few meals and coffees! I’d take two, just to be on the safe side.

That's an actual gas bottle though isn't it? Mine are just the small cannisters.

You can buy different sizes of canister and you can weigh them to determine how much is left.

DS has one that runs on twigs and pinecones and also generates power to charge a phone.

I know the type you mean.

I'm just back and I used 4 (two adults, tea, coffee, breakfast and two evening meals) I did take 8 just incase!

The ones where the stove has a little slot down the side for the canister to clip in?
I think one canister would do several days worth of teas and coffees, but if you are doing meals as well, two is probably enough, but I’d take 3 to make sure.

@MirandaMarple thank-you!! There is just me and 2 DC. I have 4 cannisters and 1 part used, I will take a couple plus the used one. I dont plan on cooking much.

@Talipesmum that's great, thank you

@elephantofrisk that looks great, but a bit different to my £10 second hand option.

I use a different style but one canister lasts 1-2 summers of multiple weekends camping, however I don't cook dinner (it's what pubs are forGrin), so just a pan of water for coffee then bacon or sausages each day.

OP: Those canisters do run out quite fast. But 2.5 should be enough. I would take 3 though, just in case.

Take care with pan size: it mustn’t overlap the canister compartment at all.

As above really important about pan size
