I have a transit camper, this isn’t big enough so I want a tent and the associated paraphernalia.

We’re two adults, one child (5) and a dog. The tent will be for one adult and child most of the time, but we will also be going camping with Grandma, meaning on those occasions the tent will be bed for three people.

Would people advise a standard tent (and what type etc), or would you advise a specific tent to join the side of the camper?

My partner has a disability, so it would need to be something I can put up with minimal support from another adult, he can hold things down with his feet etc, but couldn’t thread/hold poles.

I'd recommend an airbeam awning. You can attach it to your transit if you have an side rail fitted, if not it's easy to get one. You'll also need a slide in figure of 8 type thing depending on the awning and the rail on your van to attach the two together. Airbeam is so much easier than poles and you can buy additional bedrooms for your sleeping arrangements.

We have a VW T5 camper and use a tent rather than an awning with it.

As we normally go out in the van each day we don't have to muck about lining the van up and connecting to anything when we get back.

There is only a small gap between the tent and van - it suits us.
