Is camping over Easter looking likely?

Dreaming of getting away over Easter to our fave campsite. Doubt it will happen though 😓

No, I very much doubt it.

ResIpsaLoquiturInterAlia · 17/02/2021 22:27

No if only but very unlikely as still too early because of mutations.

Funf · 18/02/2021 06:16

In the garden

Normalmumandwife · 18/02/2021 06:34

It looks most likely if things continue. The downside is that non essential shops and hospitality won't be but if you are hilly with a change of scene self catered with bugger a,l open then I think it is likely.

I wouldn't be happy laying Centre Parks prices though with nothing open there

I have booked a campsite near Keswick, just us, a tent and electric hook up. I'd go if allowed even if pubs etc are not open, we'd just go walking in the hills.

But I'm not too hopeful.

JustMarriedBecca · 18/02/2021 08:06

I suspect same as last year. Self catering and those with separate facilities will be allowed to open first. But depending on your Easter break, probably just from April rather than either side of the Easter long weekend weeks. Portable loo.

BunnyRuddington · 18/02/2021 18:13

I think it maybe too soon, sadly as we've been camping at Easter before and had some really nice weather.

Lifeispassingby · 18/02/2021 18:15

We want to camp at Easter too but not sure it will happen

helpfulperson · 18/02/2021 18:20

I've also got a campsite in keswick booked but honestly no I don't think it will be happening.

No idea, but . I went camping at Easter once. Dear lord, never again. There was frost on the ground in the mornings. I barely slept because I was so cold!

The last two Easters have been boiling! Gosh would be lovely wouldn't it.
MrsMackesy · 18/02/2021 18:28

We'd hoped for an isolated holiday cottage by Easter but I think it will still be too early for non-essential mass travel around the country. We also have to think about the communities we'd be going into, often with elderly populations and with few and far between services already stretched. We prefer to go when welcome and can contribute to the local economy.

bettertimesarecomingnow · 18/02/2021 18:42

It's going to be camping on the farm for my DC. A few nights in a tent in one of the fields IF it's warm. I don't want to camp if it's cold.

Maybe they could camp and I will wave from the window!!

Oblomov21 · 18/02/2021 18:52

No.
Will both May bank holidays at the beginning and end of may happen either? Not sure.

Oblomov21 · 18/02/2021 18:52

We too went to our caravan in Dorset at Easter once. Never again.

lazylinguist · 18/02/2021 19:03

It was stunning weather when we went. That was part of the problem - glorious sunshine during the day, clear skies meant very cold at night.

Don't we get an extra day this year? Seems like an incredible waster if time now we're in lockdown.

SnoopyMcLoopy · 19/02/2021 10:19

Well fingers crossed for the Monday announcement! A pic of us glamping last Feb just came up on my FB - it made me want to pack up the car 🤣

I love Easter camping - it's always so quiet 😀

Got I cannot wait to get back in our van. We used to go local almost every weekend from end of Feb til October. Only managed about 6 trips last year. I hope this year will be different. I miss pub stops!

Sunflowergirl1 · 20/02/2021 06:15

"love Easter camping - it's always so quiet 😀"

Ha....I bet it won't be this year...but I suspect it will have a good atmosphere about it

lazylinguist · 20/02/2021 19:04

For good reason. Grin

Our Scouts/Venturers go camping for Easter every year, and that has been cancelled again this year. (None of our Sections have had any overnight trips since November 2019....as it happens, my Cub Section was the last to be away hostelling).

I was happy to get my tent up last summer, for an overnight in the garden of my DPs holiday house.

I can't even dream of this Easter, because Govt is not even considering relaxing ANY of the rules, including a 5km radius and no mixing, until after Easter Monday (and probably well after that given delays to deliveries of vaccines here).

But I have provisionally booked a camping trip for my Cubs in late June, as they are desperate to go and I am hopeful we might be allowed (with strict conditions) by then. The Leaders have already planned on bringing the 2 marquees rather than our usual 1, and enough tents to only have 3 per tent instead of 6. We actually thought about asking to buy a 3rd marquee, so we have space for 2 patrols per marquee to eat, and the 3rd being the QM tent - stores and cooking space for Leaders to use.

26th April is now being stated as the official opening date of club sites so presumably most private ones as well. No toilet/ shower blocks to open though so need your own facilities

NettleTea · 26/03/2021 08:20

we aree not opening until the 12th at the earliest, self contained accommodation isnt allowed

we will make a decision on the campsite side of things in May
