Camping solo

I love my family, I really do, but I’m also feeling like I’d love a bit of space and am dreaming of taking myself off for a bit of solo hiking and camping.
Has anyone done this? Did you feel safe? Any recommendations for tiny, light tents that are big enough to sit up in?

We've been impressed with the vango backpackers tents but to sit up inside you'll need at least a 2 man. Probably best to do a tour of the shops once they reopen. A good tent is worth investing the time on!

It gets cold at night - take a roll mat to put under you and a proper winter sleeping bag.

I camp on my own all the time. I have a nice "holiday" set up, if I'm going in the car for a few days, with a big three man tent, proper bed, chair, table etc. If I'm only going overnight or backpacking, I have a Lanshan tent, which is a great, lightweight, reasonably cheap tent - you do need to use trekking poles to pitch it though.

I’ve been camping alone in my 4 man tent, loved it! Very peaceful, you can read a book be social with other campers if you wish but no need if not. I thoroughly enjoyed it!

I think most campsite are closed either due to the time of year of because of covid?

Will you go by car? A two-man tent would be better for space, but if you're limited for weight then a backpacking lightweight tent is best, maybe. 1.5 person?
Mine is so ancient I don't have a recommendation I'm afraid.

I have an OEX Rakoon which is plenty big enough for one person and you can easily sit up & move around in it. Still pretty good for 2 people too! It's fairly cheap and although it's a bit heavier than a lot of the super lightweight super tiny one man tents I personally think it's worth it to have a more comfortable and spacious tent when you set up 😊 Of course if you're car camping then weight isn't really an issue!

Sleeping alone in a tent is very cold- much colder than with someone else. Better to have a small one so you have less air to heat. I have a van go phantom 200 which is light and packs really small- don't know if they still make it. I've never felt unsafe doing this but was in remote areas and also I was young and fearless (at the time)
