Can you hire a bell tent that you put up yourself, rather than glamping?

I'm trying to convince dh to get a bell tent. We need a new tent so the time is right. He already wants polycotton for temperature, and is looking at air beam for ease of putting up (so already quite big and heavy)

We have a trailer, so transporting not an issue. I'm certain we could buy a bell tent with inners and an awning for the same or less than the polycotton air beam he has his eye on.

But he thinks they are hard to put up, not practical. I want to show him otherwise. All the rental places seem to be ones that come to you and put it up in your garden.

We have 2 children, age 8 and 11. 8 yr old has ASD, so inners would be so she can have some space if needed in the day. And the canvas would be cooler for her to stay inside. We also have a big dog, so found our 4/5 man polyester a little cramped last week!

I know someone who has a bell tent for hire. Whereabouts in the UK are you?

I'm in Yorkshire.

Wrong side of the country I’m afraid.
Friend has said that bell tents are VERY easy to put up. 2 poles only and then pegs to keep it in place

Dead easy to put up but, having had both, I would go for a Dutch pyramid tent instead
Just a beautiful but much more practical. I liked the look of the bell tent more than the reality of using it
There are some good FB sites for pyramid tents. You get lovely looking variflous (sp may be well offGrin) which is a front porch area and attaches to the poles
Still easy to put up and canvas which is fab. I will never camp in a plastic bag again

Bell tents are really easy to put up. DH managed it drunk and mostly on his own at festivals in our youth. Easiest tents ever. Ours got half broken and then disappeared, Im still sad!

Bell tents are incredibly easy to put up and they look good when they are up but I think it would be a good idea to try one out before you invest in one. I have one and, although I like it, it's not my favourite tent for many reasons. It's great for camping in nice weather when you are spending most of your time outside but if it's rainy and you are spending time inside the tent I much prefer to have windows and useful inside space.
