Comfortable camping beds

Any recommendations for a super comfy camping bed please? Must be wider than your average, not an airbed, I find I get really cold.

I've been wondering about one of the new convertible chair/bed combo things, does anyone have one?

Airbeds are cold because they offer no insulation from the ground. The ground cold makes the air cold, and your body warmth just disappears into the cold air.

A SIM is so much warmer to sleep on, and I find more comfortable too.

Some people rave about a SIM on top of these

If you find a blow-up comfortable, but just cold, out an interlocking foam mat on the floor under it and a foam yoga mat on top.

We have SIMs with the inflatable camp beds from Decathlon @InTheWings links to above. We got two of the camp beds (they link together to make a double) with two single SIMS on top. But you could also just put a double SIM on top.

I spent a long time haunting various forums before eventually deciding to invest in these and I'm very pleased I did. So warm and comfortable. And I like being off the ground too.

I did have layers underneath and was still frozen so definitely not wanting air beds

Those look interesting. I can imagine I would end up strangling myself on it somehow Grin

Have you tried a SIM on top of a couple of roll mats or a canvas type camp bed?

NotMeNoNo · 03/08/2020 18:55

IME you need a 4/5 season sleeping bag /pod for UK camping , the seasons are standardised for men and most women are colder.

Fishing chair beds are the answer. We have Westlake ones, so comfortable.

Had SIMs and airbeds. Fishing bed wins hands down. We kept checking until they were on sale.

I second fishing chains!

Sheepskins on top of your blow up airbed. Or tbh instead of on top of a couple of doubled up duvets

Have a look at megamats- they are amazing, very comfortable.
I always sleep with a blanket under me or if it's winter camp a foil based picnic blanket under the mat.

I was looking at the Westlake one after spotting it in go outdoors but it was in the box. I wonder if they would get one out if I asked?

I'm sure they would. We got the Westlake Comfort chairs for £75 each reduced from £150 each. Huge bargain but we'd been waiting for the right time to buy them.

We also bought the NGT padded bedchair bag which fits both beds in, it's huge.
