Beach and pool - towels??

Never been to a site with a beach or pool before. Can we get away with just 1 microfibre towel each and a picnic rug for the beach?

Or will I never be completely dry unless I take 1 set for day time and 1 set for showers??

You won’t want to use your beach towel in the morning for your shower. It will be sandy.

Take 2 per person, unless you want to be wasting the towels after the beach.

Washing

That's what I'm thinking but god knows how I'm going to find space for that many towels!

Picnic rug for the beach is fine, but you won't want to use your shower towels for drying salt water off at the beach - the salt and sea smell negate the entire point of having a shower! Take two microfiber towels each (ideally different colours).

Matalan do Hamman towels. Presume amazon etc will also sell them. They dry very fast, are absorbant and thin. I take them on holidays. 3 of them take up less room than one standard towel.

Use thin hammam towels, currently on sale in Tesco.

Use separate for beach and showers.

Use a flannel to almost dry yourself all over, you can get most of the wet off like this. The fewer towels you need to dry the better.

Hammam towels are great for beach and shower use. I've been using the same ones for years now. Compact, super quick to dry.

We also got some excellent microfibre towels from decathlon.

ChateauMargaux · 02/08/2020 22:49

Micro fibre dry much more quickly than hammam towels in my opinion, and can be quickly washed, squeezed out and dried again in no time. You can also dry yourself while they are wet. We have the XL Decathlon ones.

We have a very large throw for the beach which is about as thick as a duvet cover so takes up little space but can easily fit 5 of us for a picnic and 2 for sunbathing.

We travel a lot and don't ever take more than one towel per person.

We (6) have light blue microfiber for beach/pool and dark blue for after showers. Decathlon.

Def take more than one each. Also it helps if there’s a little rain shower and the towels don’t dry properly

We take an old king size duvet cover to the beach. Easy to shake the sand off, dries quickly when wet and you can chuck it in the washing machine.
