Mobile internet in caravan?

Hi - does anyone have mobile internet in their caravan? We got to quite a few rural sites so need to be able to buy a sim for the network with the best signal for each site.
Any recommendations? Does mobile internet work ok? Thanks

It works when there is a strong enough signal and not too many other people using it. We have found that the speed increases significantly when it is raining.

You can get caravan/motorhome mifi units that are better at picking up weak signals.

I have looked into this too - I now have a Huawei E5785 WiFi hotspot (has to be the 2017 version because that one has the antenna points rather than the newer one which doesn’t), plus an Alda PQ antenna, and two little TS9 connectors to connect it to the hotspot. I also have an eye bolt magnet to attach it to the outside of the van. You don’t need an antenna if you have going to places you know have reception, but I have managed to get fast reception all over the Welsh hills (my kids are mountain bikers) and I have managed to work from “home” with this set up all over the place.

We have a Huawei router too and must have tried half a dozen different types of external high gain antenna. In the end, mounting the router on top of a pole outside proved to be the most effective. Still a terribly weak signal though. Just about usable 50% of the time for email and browsing (slowly).
