Camping in wales?

StandardLampski · 26/06/2020 15:33

Thinking we would like to go to Wales again but holding back on booking... they are generally being more cautious re covid-19....

What does anyone else think?

Also,, does anyone have any campsite recommendations for a tent, not in south wales ( would love to go but just too far)

Loved hendre mynach, the kids like being near the beach and we tend to walk , just some where basic and clean does us!

We have Fforest fields in Builth Wells booked from 1st August for two weeks (been booked since beginning of Feb), I have everything crossed they’ll be able open by then!

We had a week holiday booked for the end of July but the campsite cancelled. Luckily we managed to get some England trips.

I'm going to Fforest Fields the last week of August. Love it there, and it is so peaceful

From what I understand the latest update to guidelines in Wales is that camping in a self contained unit (ie caravan, motorhome, etc.) will be permitted from mid July, but communal areas like toilets/showers are not allowed to open, so tent camping is not on the cards yet at all. Next review is due mid July, which doesn't leave much time for rebooking elsewhere if restrictions aren't lifted further.

Think you can only camp in a self contained unit at the mo. We're booked in in Conwy in our motorhome in August. But it may have changed again by then anyway

Thanks for your replies... think I will keep any suggestions for another year.... the campsites I contacted seemed reluctant to encourage tents...yes til mid july hut didnt want to leave it so late!

We have booked for the lake district! Fingers crossed it all goes ahead!

We’re booked into Kitewood - it’s beautiful and they’ve very helpfully built a shower each pitch so they count as self contained. Can’t wait!
