HELP! Vango Discovery DD300 - instructions needed

Dottydot · 25/08/2007 17:22

Family friends have just given us a Vango Discovery DD300 tent to have - I was telling them about my plans to take ds's camping and they've got this tent they haven't used in ages and don't need.

I'm really chuffed but haven't got a clue how to put it together and there's no instructions. The model isn't on the Vango website - probably too old, so I was hoping someone might be able to help...

Thanks!

I don't know dotty but if no-one on here knows someone on ukampsites is bound to so i suggest you post a thread on there.

Brilliant - thank you. I've not ventured onto any camping websites yet (gulp) - first time for everything...

Look here

You can do a search to find info or go to the message boards and ask there.

is it this one?

looks straightforward to put up if it is.

Dottydot · 25/08/2007 22:15

It must be pretty similar. Sigh. I know it's probably really easy to put up but I'm really nervous - have never put a tent up before and we haven't got a garden to practice in! The camping website people said to go to a park to practice putting it up - makes sense but I'm mortified. I don't know my guylines from my flysheets and am getting pre-camping nerves...

Just want nice simple written instructions so I can get it sorted as I'll be on my own with ds's when we go for the first time (I know I'm being a wuss by the way).

Have a look at the Vango website here click on venture 500 and there should be some pitching instructions that you can print off.

There should be 2 longer elasticated poles and 1 shorter one. Lay the tent out and feed the longer poles diagonally across the tent, and fix the pins on the poles into the holes in the corners of the tent, then raise then tent up and peg the bottom of the poles - then do the shorter pole for the canopy bit exactly the same. It will be easy trust me. Give the ds's plenty of food to nibble while you do it, or get them to hold tent pegs.

Pitching in the park is a good idea - Bruntwood is a good bet!

ask if you need any more tips - you'll be fine!
