Thinking of getting self inflating mattress / some chairs / etc from decathlon tomorrow as I'm thinking it will be cheaper than going down to GoOutdoors. But will they be as good? And will I be able to buy a bucket with a lid on at either of therse shops?

Can't vouch for their camping gear as we didn't get ours from there, but, we got our waterproof jackets and hiking boots from there which we do use for camping, these have been fab.

Haven't found bucket with lid ANYWHERE. Did you have any success?

HectorsHouse · 06/08/2007 17:04

I love decathlon .. its a meca

I like the quercha tent they have .. we take a 3 man one to the beach .. its like a little beach hut / changing area .. fabulous!

bucket with lid - somewhere like mothercare for a nappy pail!

janinlondon · 07/08/2007 10:59

I've been to three Mothercares, four Woolworths, and every Homebase and B&Q for miles around.....no nappy pails! Is there a rush on the darned things??? I didn't think they'd be seasonal??

janinlondon · 07/08/2007 10:59

Oh and also BabiesRUs. None in stock. Hmph!

grannyslippers · 07/08/2007 20:20

Our local "plastic box"/hardware shop does plastic buckets with handle and lid, slightly bigger than a usual nappy pail. Have you one near you - the sort of place that has wheelbarrows and galvanised dustbins stacked outside.

Thanks GS - will have a scout around. Debbiewebweb did you find any????

Pan · 08/08/2007 09:02

"will have a scout around"..camping...very good.

debbiewebweb · 08/08/2007 10:23

Well haven't found a bucket with lid as such, have been looking loads of places last two days and have found a kids 'toy bin thing' with a twist on off lid for a bargain £1.49 in focus diy. I'm going to go back and buy it tomorrow unless I find anything better - any luck anyone else ??

This is ridiculous. I found myself staring longingly at some dulux paint tins in Homebase, wondering how I could dispose of the paint and just have the container....

MegaLegs · 08/08/2007 13:53

Long shot for bucket with lid but have you tried asking at a local cafe? One near here gives away empty mayo buckets with lids, worth a try maybe??

PandaG · 09/08/2007 13:19

Oh Jan, what a nuisance, we got one from Mothercare years ago when we needed a nappy bucket, replaced it last year from a local diy shop, no problem. Friends of ours buy granular compost stuff which comes in a bucket with lid a week or so before they go camping, and reuse the container. Any use in looking for something like that?

Or, do you have a friend who has recently potty trained a washable nappy wearer?

janinlondon · 09/08/2007 15:45

Ahh I haven't given up yet. Though am still worrying about Debbiewebweb's children being instructed to use the kid's toy bin - the possible repercussions are horrendous!!!

debbiewebweb · 09/08/2007 16:52

Lol jan - maybe thats a bad idea. I did see an ice bucket in tesco's that I was eyeing up. I'm going to buy something tomorrow, whatever it is, as we're going camping sunday and even if dd can make it through the night I certainly can't - especially after a few drinks

Debbiewebweb we are also setting off on Sunday come rain or hail or snow (whichever - its sure to be one...) but I have solved my problem. Emptied out old playdough bucket, scraped the labels off, and DD is none the wiser. Result! (We also have Decathlon chairs and self inflating mats, so will report back - did you get yours there by the way?)

debbiewebweb · 10/08/2007 10:38

We've bought our chairs at decathlon, but got our self inflating mat from Go Outdoors, we got the double outwell one. Will go back to focus and get toy bin thing tomorrow and then we're all set... I think!
