I have a caravan & im planning on going away soon but where we are staying doesnt have electric hook up but i'd like to use the lights in the caravan at night l, what type of battery do we need to run lights only?? We did have a big leisure battery but its no good now and £130 to replace.

Any advice appricated.

The Leisure battery should run the lights and water pumps for a weekend, we changed all our lights to LED as they use a fraction of the power. If you are really stuck get a car battery from a scrap yard about £20 but should last the weekend

Just check is the toilet flush electric or the twist pump thing?, it will still flush if you open the flap and pour water down
Will the cooker etc work with no electricity? all ours do. Just buy a couple of torches, head torches are good. Dont let not wanting to buy a battery spoil the chance of a good holiday.
WE now have a camper van but have solar panels to keep the batteries topped up, really you should re charge the battery every couple of months, they dont last for ever but should last 4-5 years
