Camping in Spain

Hello fellow campers. We have been die hard France campers over the last 6 years and are thinking to maybe venture to Spain next year. Probably would have to be north or not to far from that. For reference we loved Les Valades and are currently at La Ribeyre which we love even more. Thinking either ferry to Santander, or ferry to France then a stopover en route to Spain.

We will have 15 and 12 yr old. We like lakes and pools (with some slides), low key evening entertainment, restaurant and bar but not bells and whistles 😀

Thanks!

We go to the Bay of Roses.
This area is renowned for wind surfing if you’re into that kind of thing. There are lots of campsites around there suitable for teens and sone nice small towns around. Girona was used to film some of series 6 game of thrones so you can do a tour round and Salvador Dali lived nearby. It’s also fairly close to Barcelona.
Pitches in Spain can be small in some sites so do your research.
Some sites have pitches with their own toilet and showers.
We used to go to France but kept going further south for the nicer weather and ended up in Spain a few years ago. Spain is generally cheaper than France which balances out the extra travel.
We have been to camping l’amfora.
Site is on the beach, it’s large but caters for families and teens, there’s good security shower blocks are immaculate and site overall is very clean. They have extra large pitches with own sanitary blocks as well as smaller ones with or without their own sanitary facilities. Site supermarket is good too. Site has nice restaurant and entertainment every night in high season.

They also have activities in the day like darts, yoga, Zumba, football water polo etc for teens and children. There is also a doctor on site everyday in the morning and a beautician/ massage therapist on site and a good laundry.
It does get booked up very quickly and we usually book in November for the following year. Downside is that they don’t take card payments.
This part of Spain is close to Pyrenees so heavy Thunderstorms can occur particularly when it’s been very hot for a few days but they are usually brief.
We travel across on tunnel and drive down through France with one overnight stop in a hotel.

Playa Joyel in Noja is on the most amazing beach and not far from Santander. There is a river running through the Beach. We enjoyed it with a 16 and 10 year old. Small pool but the site has direct access to the beach.

Hey @hillbilly I'm glad la ribeyre is as you hoped. Phew! So you have been to our two favourite sites, now here's our 3rd.

This is on the coast but near to girona and we also went to Barcelona from there. It's a huge site, nothing like the previous 2 but we loved it. It was very hot when we were there so there was probably more relaxing and less exploring than other holidays. There's no lake, but a fabulous water area with slides and big pools. Mine loved that they were deep enough for diving and they could do late night swimming in the dark.
We drove through France - dh was keen to go over the Millau bridge - as we couldn't justify the cost of a ferry to Spain.

Thanks everyone I'll have a look. Millimat this is our 2nd time at Ribeyre and yes we love it. It was baking hot when we arrived but been pretty cool since last Friday hence thinking of travelling further south next year.
