we are camping virgins and thinking of going for it this coming weekend - what is the likelihood of us managing to book something either new forest area of somewhere within about 2 hours of london? DD is 3 and DS is 6 months (haven't even bought my tent yet! but having read some of the threads going to go for a cheapy starter kit from Argos!).

I'd start phoning around, you prob will get tent pitch no worries.

I was going to suggest phoning around too. Most places this time of year say they won't take bookings and that you will just have to turn up and take a chance. It's a lovely week so places could be busy.
