What size icey tek

I am very excited. About to order my first and much coveted icey tek.

But what size? 25 / 40 or 55litre?

Never mind the size, what colour?

I have 25l but I only have a small camping family.

Well I knew from the outset it was going to be canary yellow!!!! Omg. I'm so excited

We have the 25 and 40 litres and use them both when we camp. Big one in purple and smaller one in yellow. I'd forgo something else in the car rather than not take one of the Icyteks (they may both have names.....)

How many people and how long away are your trips? Weekends or weeks?

So family of three and long weekends. But often larger groups for the day.

I am going for the middle size and I may add a little one at a later date.

And love the idea of giving them names.....!

Now I just have to wait for her to arrive!

It really is worth taking the trouble to pre-cool your box. I fill old plastic bottles with water and shut them in the box for at least 24 hours before loading my box with as much pre-frozen and pre-chilled stuff as possible.

I’ve got the 25l, it’s big enough for a few days for us family of 4. We need to shop alternate days with it. Would’ve liked a bigger one bit wouldn’t have fitted in car! Love it though, stays cold for weeks!

I pre-cooled a Colman hard-walled coolbox before Cub camp this year and it made SUCH a difference!

I filled an empty plastic milk carton and froze that, and my ice blocks that would not be coming (rubbish at staying cold and badly shaped for packing), and used those from the morning of the day before I went until lunchtime of the day I went - and then packed in my cold food (all well chilled but nothing frozen) and my frozen iceblocks that were coming.

As it was quite hot, I had bought a bag of ice as well, and had that in a fabric coolbag, so when I used up the first few cartons of milk, I replaced them with the ice (still mostly frozen) - I still had cold milk and juice on Sunday lunchtime from Friday lunchtime for the first time ever (and that is with Cubs constantly going at the coolbox and letting the heat in!).
