Travelling with gas

Sorry if this is a really stupid question but what should I know about travelling abroad with gas? I'm not talking about a proper gas canister. I'm talking about the cans that slot into the single camping stoves.

I've done a lot of camping in the UK and have always just travelled with them in a small crate in the car.

I'm planning to go to France this year. Are there rules about going on the ferry etc I need to know about? They would probably be in the car boot again rather than a trailer or on the roof.

Bumping as I'd forgotten about this.

I don't believe that there are any special restrictions if you are using the ferry. Eurotunnel does have restrictions on LPG but I don't think they include the small canisters you are referring to.

Thanks Rottnest.

Just check your camp site allows gas cylinders I believe a few don't and check you can buy them locally

Make sure that you set the cooker to an "unlock" position when you drive. I had an unpleasant headachey drive once, then found it was because the gas was slightly 'on' the whole trip.

Might be better to remove the cylinder and put the red cap on
